2015 HERE WE COME!
Well, if 2014 is any indicator 2015 will be an another year of making history, empowering domestic workers, growing our movement, and celebrating!
The weather outside has been frightful, but what's happening this year is so delightful!
Last year we passed the most progressive and far-reaching domestic workers' bill of rights law in the United States. We now are leading the way in full-on implementation and outreach. How?
FIRST, our coalition is growing. Join us in welcoming The Boston Center for Independent Living and the New England Jewish Labor Committee (NEJLC) as the newest members of our broad-based coalition, joining Brazilian Women's Group, Dominican Development Center, and MataHari/Women Workers' Center!
SECOND, we have legislation pending for a Massachusetts Domestic Workers' Rights Day. If passed, it will designate June 16th as our day.
THIRD, we are documenting not only the history made but also our individual histories through an Oral History project led by MataHari and the NEJLC and through the Dominican Development Center storytelling project.
FOURTH, as you can see, our new website is live. We have our coalition calendar up so everyone can know what we are doing. Events like Cha de Muhleres (Women's Tea) at Brazilian Women's Group, employer forums, International Women's Day, and Ai Jen Poo's Age of Dignity book signing and release event will be advertised well in advance!
FINALLY, MCDW is on the RADIO!! NDR: National Domestic Radio is a show by, for, and about domestic workers - We meet and talk about the law and our experiences. Next show to be announced. . . .
